TV Gaming Platform PlayJam Secures $5M In Funding From GameStop, Adobe

Interactive casual TV gaming network PlayJam announced today that it has secured $5 million in Series A funding, as a means of expanding its reach further into Asian and U.S. markets. The round of funding was financed by such big-name partners as GameStop Digital Ventures, Adobe Ventures, Endeavour Ventures and London Venture Partners, along with a "number of game industry luminaries." Having already generated over 6 billion downloads in the last five years via its Pay TV platforms, PlayJam is now working with Adobe to bring Flash-based 2D and 3D games to the TV platform. It is also currently working on the PlayJam SDK, an open architecture platform that will provide developers with an advanced toolset to monetize their games via connected TV. The platform is due to launch in the second quarter of 2012. Earlier in the year, Relentless Software -- best known as the creator of Sony's Buzz! franchise -- said it is creating games for PlayJam's interactive casual TV gaming network.
