Ubisoft Releasing New FarCry, Brother in Arms In 2012

At is E3 press conference today, Ubisoft announced that two of its first-person shooters, FarCry 3 and Gearbox Software's Brothers in Arms Furious 4, will release next year. FarCry 3 is planned for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. The game is under development at Ubisoft Montreal, with assistance from Ubisoft Massive (formerly Massive Entertainment, based in Malmo, Sweden) and Ubisoft Shanghai. In the shooter, players take on the role of Jason Brody, who is stranded on a tropical island where "lawlessness and violence are the only sure thing". They must "slash, sneak, detonate, and shoot" their way across the island, while making allies and enemies along the way. "Far Cry 3 brings something new and unexpected, while still building upon the foundations of excellence that are inherent to the Far Cry brand,” says Ubisoft Montreal producer Dan Hay. Set to ship in the first half of 2012Brothers in Arms Furious 4 will also release for PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. The Inglorious Basterds-inspired WWII title stars a squad of "fierce and fearless warriors" out to fight an experimental Nazi army. Other Ubisoft announcements from today include Just Dance 3 (for Wii, Xbox 360/Kinect, PS3/Move) on October 11, Driver: San Francisco on August 30, Rocksmith in October, Ghost Recon: Future Soldierfor 2012, and TrackMania 2 with an unspecified release date.
