UK Developer 4J Studios Working On Minecraft XBLA

Dundee, UK-based developer 4J Studios has been revealed as the team behind the upcoming Xbox 360 version of hit sandbox game Minecraft. Confirmed via Markus 'Notch' Persson's Twitter, the studio will be bringing the game to Xbox Live Arcade later this year as a Kinect-enabled title. 4J Studios has developed a number of large console ports in the past, including the PlayStation 3 version of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and the Xbox Live Arcade versions of Banjo-Kazooie, Banjo-Tooie and Perfect Dark. Originally developed for PC by indie Swedish studio Mojang, Minecraft for the Xbox 360 will be Kinect-enabled, allowing gesture and voice controls for the game, which is meant to encourage creativity and world building. Earlier this year, the Scottish government announced a competition that invited students to submit ideas for a game inspired by the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. The winner was given the chance to work with 4J Studios to turn the concept into a working game.
