UNCHARTED Movie Officially Subject To Yet Another Release Date Delay Due To The Coronavirus Pandemic

No, this isn't an April Fool's Day joke. Sony's live-action movie based on the popular Uncharted video game series has been hit with yet another delay.

This is only the latest instance of the countless delays that the Uncharted movie has been subject to.

The movie has held many different release dates but most recently was delayed from December 2020 to March 2021 — as director Travis Knight (Bumblebee) decided to opt out of the project. Unfortunately, that's no longer the case.

The Uncharted movie is now set to arrive in theatres on October 8th, 2021.

Now, Ruben Fleischer (Venom) will direct. Tom Holland (Spider-Man: Far From Home) will star as PlayStation's iconic scoundrel — Nathan Drake.

The cast also includes Mark Wahlberg (Spenser Confidential) as Victor "Sully" Sullivan as well as Academy Award-winning actor Antonio Banderas (Pain and Glory), Sophia Ali (Grey's Anatomy), and Tati Gabrielle (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina).

Following the announcement of the delay, Holland commented that production as a whole was halted right before it was about to kick off.

"We showed up for our first day of shooting and they shut us down," said Holland (via Comicbook.com). "We were in Berlin."

According to Variety, the Uncharted movie is one of many that have been subject to a delay. The others include Morbius, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, and Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway. All of their release dates have been moved from 2020 to 2021 due to the Coronavirus pandemic that's currently plaguing most of the world.
