Unity has announced that, starting now, its popular game development engine will offer support for Microsoft’s mid-generation hardware update, the Xbox One X.
The inclusion of Xbox One X support means that game developers creating projects within Unity are now able to take advantage of the souped-up hardware and 4K HDR output the One X has to offer.
For developers already working on an Xbox One title through Microsoft's ID@Xbox indies initiative, Unity says making use of the One X support is “as easy as changing some quality settings”.
Otherwise, access to the utility requires devs to sign up for the ID@Xbox publishing program and register as a Microsoft developer to gain access to the Xbox developer portal and the Xbox One Unity editor. More details on that process can be found on Unity’s blog and the ID@Xbox website.
