Newsbrief: As Valve continues to experiment with user-generated content on its Steam platform, the company this month launched a new series of limited-time DLC updates for its popular Counter Strike franchise. The paid Operation Payback update for Global Offensive adds seven community maps to the official in-game rotation, with proceedings going towards the modders who created the featured maps (although Valve hasn't stated what percentage of the payment goes to the community devs). Players are also provided with a special coin that is displayed next to their names, to show they have purchased the pack. After July 31, the pack is then replaced by another set of paid community maps. More information can be found on the CS:GO website.
