Among the many announcements made at TennoCon 2021 this year, one of the most exciting was that cross play and cross save for Warframe is officially in development. The free-to-play looter shooter is also coming to mobile devices.
Cross save has been one of the most requested features among fans as it would allow the player base to seamlessly play their account on any platform without any interruption in their progress. Cross play will allow you to Squad up and matchmake with other players and friends regardless of what platfrom they are on, likely reducing any queue times.
As a result of this new functionality, this also means all major updates will arrive simultaneously across all platforms. Uusally, console players have to wait a few weeks before they can play the latest content.
Warframe will also be coming to mobile, although we're not quite sure how that will work yet. Details weren't fully revealed but the prospect of being able to take this game on-the-go is certainly an intriguing one, especially once cross play is enabled. There are some questions however, such as how Digital Extremes will account for Warframe's rather complicated control scheme. But if other games can make it work, there's no reason it can't succeed with Warframe.
Warframe is free-to-play and available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC. Now all of these platforms will be unified with cross play and cross progression.
