Warner Bros. Lays Off Staff At Seattle Studio

Lord of the Rings: War in the North publisher Warner Bros. has laid off a number of its staff at its Seattle branch, in the same month that its new game launched. 3D Realms director George Broussard first revealed the news on Twitter, stating, "Warner Brothers Games lays off 60ish across multiple Seattle studios. Good luck, guys." Warner Bros. then reached out to news website GameSpot, explaining that there have indeed been layoffs -- although the company did not provide exact details, and did not confirm Broussard's 60 figure. A representative for the company explained, "As part of the continual review of our business operations and fluctuating market conditions, we have had to make reductions in our WB Games Seattle workforce." Warner Bros. revealed last week that it is offering an exclusive trial version of action RPG Lord of the Rings: War in the North through streaming service OnLive, rather than offering a downloadable demo to players.
