Witcher series sold over 1.5 million copies last year

Newsbrief: CD Projekt Red's The Witcher series sold over 1.5 million copies last year, with 401,543 of that count coming from the first game that originally released more than four years ago. "If anything, [the sales] prove that the content we put into our games ages well," CD Projekt Red's managing director Adam Badowski told Eurogamer. The RPG debuted in 2007, and received an Enhanced Edition the following year with new and remastered content. Its sequel, The Witcher 2, which released for Windows last March and will receive an Xbox 360 version this April, sold 1,110,055 copies in 2011. Gamers purchased 270,000 of those copies on digital distribution platforms: 40,000 on CD Projekt Red's Good Old Games service, and the rest on other platforms like Steam.
