Bossa Studios, the London-based game developer behind Surgeon Simulator, has pulled in an additional $10 million in funding to fuel its latest project, the MMO sandbox Worlds Adrift.

This time around, the funding round was led by Atomico and also saw contributions from repeat investor London Venture Partners.

Just over one year back, Bossa Studios raised $1.35 million from the likes of London Venture Partners to power the development of Worlds Adrift. The massively multiplayer online game is set to use Improbable’s SpatialOS cloud-processing tech to power the AI-directed procedural generation and crowdsourced content coming to its online world.

Now with an additional $10 million at its disposal, Bossa Studios is continuing to work toward the public release of Worlds Adrift and support both the AI and user-generated content coming to the online game.

The studio says the fresh investment will also help fuel its recruitment efforts as it looks toward picking up "top talent" and furthering its work with AI, user-generated content, and open development.
