WWE 2K21 Canceled As 2K Teases "Exciting" Announcement Coming On Monday

There will be no new WWE 2K game coming this year.

The World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc.confirmed during its Q1 earnings call that WWE 2K21 has been canceled.

Rumors of WWE 2K21's cancelation have persisted for a while now, especially following the tumultuous launch of WWE 2K20. Bugs and glitches resulted in extremely poor sales for the latest installment, which was developed by Visual Concepts, who took over after long-time Japanese developer Yuke's departed from the series.

While there will be no 2K21, 2K hasn't given up on the franchise.

2K Sports has plans to share details on the future of the WWE 2K franchise on Monday, April 27, promising "some exciting news." There were reports that 2K could still release a new WWE game in 2021 but perhaps it won't carry the signature "2K" banner.

Or maybe the publisher will focus this year on its mobile wrestling game.

In any case, we should find out more details on Monday at 7:00 a.m. PT.

With 2K skipping out on a new release for 2021, the publisher could be focusing on the next-generation. The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X are both expected to launch this holiday season. WWE 2K22 is still expected to release in 2021.
