Ever since the world witnessed in awe as Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy VII was being announced as a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate 3DS/Wii U, fans of the Kingdom Hearts series have been wondering why is it that Square Enix hasn't already announced Sora as a playable character.
A recent poll by Japanese website Inside for all Gamers has revealed that Sora is the most-wanted character for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate — with a grand total of 290 votes; to put things into perspective, the second place belongs to Devil May Cry's Dante with 91 votes.
Over 3000 voters participated in this poll, with 86.6% of male participants and 8.3% female respondents — who also voted for Monster Hunter series' Hunter(80 votes) for the third place, Xenoblade Chronicles 2's Rex(74 votes) took the fourth place, and 2B from NieR: Automata(70 votes) — another Square Enix title — just barely making the Top 5.
Cloud Strife is the only character that Square Enix has allowed to join the Super Smash Bros. series' roster, and it is about time they introduced another character. Rumour has it, though, that it isn't really up to them to allow Sora to join Nintendo's crossover fighting title; it's all up to Disney.
The Top 15 looks like this:
