YAKUZA Series Producer Says He Would Make A Very Different SONIC THE HEDGEHOG Game If Given The Opportunity

A few days ago, Sega shared a special interview for the company's 60th anniversary, in which Yakuza series Producer Daisuke Sato revealed he actually has some very interesting plans for a Sonic the Hedgehog game, which makes us all wonder whether he's already working on one.

When asked if there's a Sega intellectual property he would like to work on, Sato reveals that Sonic the Hedgehog is a series he's not yet engaged in, but that he would definitely like to tackle at least once in his lifetime.

"It's an IP that I haven't come to before. In the sense that I want to try it, … well, Sonic. After all, when you hear SEGA you think Sonic. I'd like to get involved once at least. But for me, the so-called Sonic is, well, if I were to do it, I wouldn't do Sonic as it was. I would like to make a completely different Sonic," revealed Sato.

Yakuza is a series that's very different to the Sonic the Hedgehog series, particularly in regards to its overall tone, and Sato's take on the Blue Hegehog would definitely be interesting to see, especially since the sky is the limit if Sega does end up giving him the opportunity to make his own version of it.

Sonic the Hedgehog's 30th anniversary is next year, and Sega has already revealed that they have big plans to celebrate this special occasion, and that they will be announcing, at the every least, a couple of games.

If they were to announce a Daisuke Sato-led Sonic the Hedgehog project, Sonic's 30th anniversary would be the perfect time to do it.
