Microsoft has advertised Obsidian’s upcoming game, Avowed, as a first-person RPG. However, it appears that the game will also have a third-person camera viewpoint, and here’s our first look at it.
As the game’s director Carrie Patel confirmed, Avowed will have both first-person and third-person camera modes. Players will be able to switch between them by simply pressing a button.
In the following video, at 10:28, we see the game in third-person mode. I’ve timestamped the video so it should start at that point. In case it doesn’t work, you’ll have to go to that point.
Avowed will be a fully open-world game. According to its devs, its map will be “denser” and “more contrasted” at the same time than the one for Skyrim. Moreover, the game will have real-time weather and a very advanced character creation tool.
Additionally, the game will have a big focus on world reactivity. Not only that, but it will have advanced lighting, as well as next-gen AI systems and physics.
What’s also great – at least for PC gamers – is that the game will support mods. Now whether or not PC modders will embrace it remains to be seen. There is no doubt that there is a lot of potential here. Or at least we believe so.
Yesterday, MS shared an in-engine story trailer for it. So, make sure to watch it if you haven’t already.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
