Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 & Warzone 2 now support AMD FSR 3.0 Frame Generation

Beenox has just released a new update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone 2 that adds support for AMD FSR 3.0 Frame Generation. This will allow most PC gamers who use an Intel, NVIDIA, or AMD GPU to enable Frame Generation.

I’m currently downloading COD: MW3 to test this latest implementation of FSR 3.0. So, expect an Impressions article tomorrow. Will the FSR 3.0 implementation be similar to what we saw in Avatar? Or will it have the same issues it had with Forspoken and Immortals of Aveum?

Until then, you can find below a video that showcases FSR 3.0 in action. YouTube’s ’54FPS’ has used FSR 3.0 Frame Generation in order to get over 100fps on the AMD Radeon RX580. That’s obviously with Mixed graphics settings, and not on Ultra Settings.

From the video, I can’t tell whether or not FSR 3.0 has the same “stuttery” issues as those I saw in Avatar. For those unaware, during GPU-heavy scenes, FSR 3.0 feels stuttery in Avatar. We immediately noticed that when we tested it. And we weren’t the only ones. Digital Foundry was also able to spot these framepacing issues.

So, I really hope that this latest FSR 3.0 Frame Generation implementation will be better. In all our tests, FSR 3.0 has been unable to match the quality of DLSS 3.

What’s also interesting here is that COD: MW3 already supports DLSS 3. Therefore, we’ll have a direct comparison between DLSS 3 and FSR 3.0. Will FSR 3.0 offer higher framerates than DLSS 3? And what about the input lag?

Speaking of FSR 3.0, there is still no word on when Bethesda will add it to Starfield. Bethesda was working on a big update that was delayed at the last minute. Will this first 2024 patch also add support for FSR 3.0 Frame Generation? We’ll soon find out.

Stay tuned for more!
