More recognizable faces in EA's FIFA series thanks to facial imaging advances

Newsbrief: Image capture company Dimensional Imaging has released the latest version of its DI3D 3D surface imaging software, meaning that more character models in Electronic Arts games will be given accurate 3D facial likenesses. EA utilizes DI3D for the facial expressions of players in its EA Sports games such as the FIFA series -- however, up to this point the additional time required to fully capture a real-life player's face and create high resolution models meant that EA chose to only give a handful of "the most recognizable players" this treatment. This latest version of DI3D allows for significant workflow improvements, said Dimensional Imaging in a statement, meaning that EA will now be giving more character models this treatment in future releases.
