Newsbrief: Jason Citron, the co-founder of mobile gaming network OpenFeint who resigned last year, has revealed his plans to make social games for smartphones and tablets. Citron stood down from his CEO role at OpenFeint last September to "pursue new opportunities," and said during a demo day in Menlo Park, California this week that he has founded a new studio called Phoenix Guild, reports Venturebeat. The industry veteran is working as a one-man team for now, but plans to bring together a team later into his first game's development. He hopes to launch the game later this year, and is aiming for a mobile game for hardcore console gamers.
