PS5 Launch Title DESTRUCTION ALLSTARS Delayed; Releasing In February As Free PS Plus Game

The PlayStation 5's launch lineup took a hit today as Sony announced the delay of Destruction AllStars. The multiplayer vehicular combat game will now release in February 2021.

The delay came with a bit of good news though as Destruction AllStars will now launch as part of PlayStation Plus.

Anyone subscribed to PS Plus will be able to download and play the game for two months at no additional cost.

Sony didn't give any specific reason for the delay, but expressed excitement about it being released as part of the PS Plus lineup.

Destruction AllStars is a multiplayer game that’s at its best when you’re competing with gamers online from all around the world.

We want as many people as possible to experience the mayhem on PS5, and what better way to do that than to provide the game to our PlayStation Plus members?

Destruction AllStars never really looked like a AAA system seller anyway so it's not a huge loss for those buying a PS5 at launch.

Plus, it stands to reason that the game could actually thrive as a PS Plus title.

Both Rocket League and Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout, two crazy fun but not necessarily blockbuster games, found great success on PlayStation thanks, in part, to the removal of the cost barrier.

Sony also announced that a new trailer as well as details on the game will be released next week.

If you already pre-ordered the game in advance of the PS5's launch, you will receive a full refund.

While the PS5 launch lineup thins out a bit now, getting Destruction AllStars for free is a nice trade off.

Plus, it's not like there won't be other must-play games on the new console. Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Demon's Souls are two very exciting games. Plus, many PS4 games will be playable on the PS5 via backward compatibility.
