Tales of the Shire has been officially announced, coming to PC in 2024

Private Division and WETA Workshop have just announced a new The Lord of The Rings game, called Tales of the Shire. Tales of the Shire is a Hobbit life sim game that will be coming to PC in 2024, and below you can find its announcement in-engine trailer.

In Tales of the Shire, players will be able to forge friendships, build and decorate their own houses, go fishing, explore Bywater, and cook their meals.

The game will have a cartoon-ish look, so don’t expect a triple-A realistic take on The Lord of the Rings. The game feels, artistically, closer to Animal Crossing and Zelda.

Still, I have to say that I’m not particularly impressed by what I see in this trailer. The reason I’m mentioning this is because this is WETA Workshop we’re talking about. WETA FX has revolutionized CG in movies. So, I was kind of expecting visuals that could be up to that quality. Instead, we’ll most likely get a game that looks like a Nintendo Switch/mobile game.

Anyway, we expect Private Division to share more details and launch the game’s Steam store page soon. Until then, go ahead and take a look at its official trailer.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
