Rumours of a battle royale mode for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare were doing the rounds before the game was even released, nay revealed. The latest instalment in the long-running first-person shooter has been available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC for about four months now and there hasn't been any sign of a battle royale mode — until recently.
Earlier this month, leaked images and rumours began to emerge. Reputable industry insiders proclaimed that a battle royale is coming soon — and it will be called: Warzone. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare players have even begun to find themselves placed into lobbies for Warzone and what appears to be the mode's large map has already been discovered in-game — more on that here.
Suffice it to say, Warzone is all but confirmed. But when should we expect to be able to actually play it? Well, a new report by VideoGamesChronicle states that Warzone will be released on March 10th, 2020. This site has had similar scoops in the past and, what's more, a reputable industry insider named Daniel Ahmad retweeted this report — providing even more credence.
It's said that Warzone has been co-developed by both Infinity Ward and Raven Software. The mode will apparently automatically be unlocked for all Call of Duty: Modern Warfare owners on March 10th. A standalone edition of Warzone will subsequently be released and won't cost a penny. Additionally, the report mentions that Warzone will support up to 200 players per game.
