Deathsmiles developer Cave's COO Mikio Watanabe resigns

Newbrief: Mikio Watanabe, VP and COO of Deathsmiles developer Cave, is resigning from the company for personal reasons, as media reports state that the studio has canceled its upcoming PS Vita titles. Watanabe, who also currently acts as the company's representative director, plans to leave on May 31. However, he will continue to hold the representative director role until August, at which point CEO Ito Masahito will become the sole party holding that role. Cave did not say who will take over the COO role from Watanabe. Japanese games magazine Famitsu has also said, as translated by Andriasang, that Cave has canceled development of the two games it has in production for the PS Vita. Shirotsuku was a social game based around building castles, while an unnamed shooter has also been halted.
