This week on "Best Of Indie Games," we take a look at some of the top independent PC Flash/downloadable titles released over this last week. The delights in this edition include a percussion-focused rhythm game for Windows and Mac platforms, a highlight from Indie Royale's May Hurray Bundle, a product of the Indie Buskers campaign, plus a free Flash game from Pippin Barr called Hot Coffee. Here's some recent highlights from IndieGames.com: Game Pick: 'Tambour' (Possible Metrics, commercial indie) "Tambour challenges players to match incoming beats from a predetermined chart in single-player mode, or from a competing player in local and online multiplayer modes. The game accepts input from a variety of sources, ranging from keyboard keys to MIDI drumkits to audio recorded via microphone." Game Pick: 'Dungeon Defenders' (Trendy Entertainment, commercial indie) "Trendy Entertainment's runaway tower defence hit Dungeon Defenders managed to build up a considerable community due to the strong focus on multiplayer and inclusion of several MMO elements. Combined with a steady stream of both free and paid DLC, and it's clear that Trendy's title is a game you can sink a ton of time into." Game Pick: 'Super Office Stress' (Sos Sosowski, commercial indie) "Super Office Stress is a unique action-roguelike in which players fight, steal, and eat their way to the top of the corporate ladder. Career advancement apparently involves slaughtering all co-workers you encounter, and any office equipment you discover can be equipped, thrown, or eaten." Game Pick: 'Hot Coffee' (Pippin Barr, browser) "Pippin Barr (Epic Sax Game, Ancient Greek Punishment) simulates the sensual, multi-step process involved in brewing the perfect cup of java in the free Flash game Hot Coffee. The procedure is split up into several timing-based minigames, all of which can be attempted as many times as you want." Game Pick: 'DLC Quest' (Going Loud Studios, commercial indie) "Initially released for the Xbox Live Indie Games service, DLC Quest is a side-scrolling action game in which players must purchase key gameplay components with in-game currency in order to progress through the story." Game Pick: 'Tiny Parallel Worlds' (MadcoreTom, browser) "Tiny Parallel Worlds is a minimalistic platformer with a few puzzles thrown in. The objective is to help the '3-pixel red dude' find his spoon." Game Pick: 'Bounce Box' (Adam Parrish, commercial indie) "Adam Parrish's pay-what-you-want (PWYW) Lexcavator is a new word/arcade game for Mac, Windows, and Linux that combines elements of Mr. Driller with word building ala SpellTower and other Boggle-likes." Game Pick: 'The Good Ship Higgs Boson' (Jezzamon, browser) "Changing gravity direction is the core mechanic in The Good Ship Higgs Boson. A couple of screens into the game and the text narrator buggers up the 'Higgs Boson generator', which sends your gravity out of whack."
