Newsbrief: Night Owl Games, a startup company responsible for the free-to-play Facebook game Dungeon Overlord, has been named one of the "Most Promising I.T. and Web Companies" at the ninth annual I.T. and Web Venture Forum in Houston, Texas. The company received this award for implementing a strong business plan to target hardcore players in the competitive online space. The company released Dungeon Overlord one month ago, and currently has roughly 120,000 users. "We see this prestigious award as huge validation of our work in the untapped market out there for hardcore games on browsers and social platforms," said Night Owl CEO Chris Mayer. "Hardcore gamers are all on browser and social platforms, but no one is serving their needs, so we see this as one of the hottest new growth areas for gaming."
