Australian developer Epiphany Games and UK-based racing game studio Eutechnyx have been chosen as finalists in the Red Herring Global 2011 awards for their achievements in programming software and online game development, respectively. The annual Red Herring Global Awards honor companies worldwide for showcasing "best in class" business models and technologies, and each year chooses 100 companies that demonstrated particularly innovative products or strategies -- winners of the award will be announced December 7. The Frozen Hearth developer Epiphany Games was first nominated for Red Herring's Top 100 Asia award in May for its LUA data manager 'Hydra,' and has since moved on to be featured in the awards' global category. Eutechnyx previously won in Red Herring's European category earlier this year, and is now featured in the global category for its upcoming racing game and social service Auto Club Revolution. "To be in with a chance of picking up a global recognition award before the end of 2011 is a remarkable achievement,” said Eutechnyx CEO Brian Jobling. "With Auto Club Revolution entering the final phases before a full release in 2012, the Red Herring nomination is vindication of the vision that we have for this unique product." Last month, Eutechnyx received £1.8 million ($2.8 million) from the UK government's regional growth fund, which it will use to help launch Auto Club Revolution and create an additional 190 jobs at the company.
