Newsbrief: Hi-Rez Studios' free-to-play shooter Tribes: Ascend has been downloaded over 1 million times since it was released just over a month ago. Released on April 12, the multiplayer team-based shooter has seen 1.2 million downloads to date worldwide, with 110,000 of that total having been referred via the game's friend referral system, which awards players with incentives for getting friends to sign up. Hi-Rez COO Todd Harris told Gamasutra earlier this month that the game had over 800,000 registered accounts, with the studio planning to boost these numbers by localizing it for other regions, as it's currently only available in English. The independent studio has not released revenue figures.
