Gamasutra here recaps the winners of the "Heavier Rain" challenge, which tasked readers with imagining a new game in the style of Quantic Dream's hit, and introduces "15 Disks", asking for 15 retro game concepts. Heavier Rain Quantic Dream's Heavy Rain was a surprisingly big hit this year -- and there's no question that its flexible style of interactivity could easily allow for a variety of different game concepts. To that end, GameCareerGuide's most recent concluded challenge asked its readers to devise a new game to be built using the technology that powered it. The best entries, as determined by GameCareerGuide's judges, were: Alvaro Vazquez, Game Designer, The Final Trick Aaron Yip, Student at Georgia Institution of Technology, Cycle 365 Dean Ray Johnson, Heavy Rain, Light Script You can read the full text of these entries, as well as a collection of runners-up, by visiting the results page at GameCareerGuide. 15 Disks How much game can you fit onto one 3.5 inch floppy? How many concepts can you come up with? GameCareerGuide's latest challenge, which runs through Wednesday, October 20th, asks readers to fill 15 disks with 15 games. That's your task: come up with 15 simple game concepts, doable on the computers of the day that had drives like these -- the Amiga, the old Macintosh, the IBM PC and compatibles, in the DOS days. Back in the days when a game would fit on a single disk, what kinds of ideas worked? No need to elaborate beyond a basic concept -- a sentence or three. The best collection of games takes the contest this time around. This is a wide open challenge. Have fun with it. For full details on how to enter this challenge, visit the challenge page at GameCareerGuide.
