The latest pay-what-you-want "Humble Bundle" collection of indie games, which includes Braid and Cortex Command, among others, has passed the $1.3 million mark, part of which goes to charity. The "Humble Indie Bundle #2" reached the milestone in about a week, about in line with the performance of the original Humble Bundle that released in May this year. This latest DRM-free bundle includes five games: Jonathan Blow's Braid, Data Realms' Cortex Command, Amanita Design's Machinarium, Hemisphere Games' Osmos and Puppygames' Revenge of the Titans. There have been over 183,000 Humble Bundle 2 purchases so far. The Humble Indie Bundle 2 generated around $500,000 in less than a day after its launch. The cost of all the games combined would normally cost $85, but like the original Humble Bundle, customers can pay what they wish, then choose how to distribute the payment. Proceeds can go towards the developers of the games, Child's Play charity or the Electronic Frontier Foundation. Customers that pay over the $7.35 payment average get the first Humble Bundle for free -- incentive to help bring up the average selling price of the Humble Bundle 2. All games work on Mac, Windows and Linux. According to the site, over half of all users are buying the Windows version. The average payment for the Windows version at the time of this writing is $6.19, the average Mac payment is $8.57 and the average Linux payment is $13.53. The Humble Indie website also notes that all games are eligible for all future updates.
