Newsbrief: Microsoft said today that it will not be attending either European video game expo Gamescom this August or the Tokyo Game Show in September as an exhibitor. Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb, director of programming for Xbox Live, posted the news on his blog, stating that the company plans to focus on smaller, more localized promotions around the world, rather than attending larger shows. Microsoft follows Nintendo's lead, as the Japanese video games giant said earlier this year that it will not be attending Gamescom. Nintendo said at the time that it is planning its own events, similar to Microsoft's reasoning.
