This week on "Best Of Indie Games," we take a look at some of the top independent PC Flash/downloadable titles released over this last week. The delights in this edition include a title described as 'Halo meets Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing', a puzzle-platformer that demand creative usage of your partners, a game in which players assume the role of a box factory employee, plus the release of the IGF 2012 winning entry from press-shy Phil Fish and Polytron Corporation. Here's some recent highlights from IndieGames.com: Game Pick: 'Drunken Wizard' (Onzephyr, freeware) "Think Smash TV, except much, much shorter and you play a drunken wizard, attempting to stay away from home for the night because you did something terrible to your girlfriend." Game Pick: 'Vidiot Game' (GZ Storm, freeware) "Following in the footsteps of surreal XBLIG standouts like Four Winds Fantasy and Re: Get To Schol on Time, Vidiot Game presents the player with a series of nonsensical challenges ranging from simple arcade-style minigames to multiple-choice questions." Game Pick: 'My Life Is Yours' (Averrone, browser) "My Life Is Yours is a pretty neat take on those puzzle-platformers that demand creative usage of your partners. Based loosely on the tale of Orpheus and Eurydice, My Life Is Yours will have you traversing a variety of obstacles in order to escape Hades." Game Pick: 'Septipus' (Soulfire Software, commercial indie) "In Septipus, players pilot a fragile floating craft throughout multiple single-screen levels. The gameplay itself recalls the bathysphere sequences from Earthworm Jim, though thankfully, it's much less frustrating." Game Pick: 'Super Box Factory: Regional Manager' (David Walters, freeware) "Walters designed a game in which players assume the role of the only employee left at a box factory following a staff walkout. Not wanting to be found out by the head office, the manager must single-handedly fulfill customer orders by dispatching and shipping the required number of boxes daily." Game Pick: 'Centrifeud' (Secret Library, commercial indie) "Up to four players sit at each corner of the iPad, equipped with a single large button. When pressed, the button causes a like-colored circle to shoot off in a random direction -- if it collides with an opposing player's corner while it's being pressed, you score a point." Game Pick: 'When Doves Cry' (Driph, browser) "As the winged hero of the game, you'll spend most of your time winging to various businessmen and their abodes to retrieve something important to them. If you succeed in handing them their belonging, they'll not commit suicide." Game Pick: 'Bumpy Road' (Simogo, commercial indie) "Bumpy Road is a charming autoscrolling platformer in which players ensure the automotive safety of a couple in their autumn years. The road can be raised to help the pair avoid obstacles, and hazards can be jumped with a quick jolt beneath the car." Game Pick: 'Snowball' (Pixeljam, browser) "Although it's retro-inspired, Snowball is something of a departure from Pixeljam's usual material - it's a fantasy pinball table, in which the ball is a snowball and everything on the table is themed to suit this." Game Pick: 'FEZ' (Polytron Corporation, commercial indie) "Polytron Corporation's IGF Grand Prize Winner FEZ released this week on XBLA for 800 MS Points. The exploratory platformer has been the subject of discussions for years, even before it won the 2008 IGF award for Excellence in Visual Arts. Now, a playable product is finally in the public's hands to dissect."
