Hello Games continues to refine and improve upon No Man's Sky, releasing today the game's eigth free update. The Synthesis Update introduces "a number of frequently-requested features and improvements" as well as general polish following the massive 2.0 update, Beyond, from a few months ago.
There are over a dozen new features in the Synthesis update, including the ability to add inventory slots to your starship in the Starship Outfitting Terminal at a Space Station. The Outfitting Terminal can also be used to salvage unwanted ships for scrap, which provide valuable products and technologies.
The Terrain Editor has also received some enhancements. You can now flatten or restore terrain more easily with a simple press of the button. Edits made within a base are also now protected from regeneration, allowing more edits to be made before reaching the cap.
