Online Warmongers Raises $5M For F2P Online Shooter

Developer Online Warmongers secured $5 million in an investment round led by Arktos Entertainment Group, funding it will put toward free-to-play online shooter War Inc. Battlezone. Based in San Francisco and founded in 2009, Online Warmongers comprises industry veterans from Electronic Arts, Activision, and Cryptic Studios. The developer expects to release its first game, War Inc. Battlezone (pictured), in North America this winter. Arktos CEO Sergey Titov led the round for the company and as a private investor. The Los Angeles-based investment firm, which is also the holding company for Online Warmongers, not only funds studios in the interactive/online entertainment industries, but also provides creative and production management support. The company supports a number of R&D projects, as well as technological development for emerging game styles and systems. Akrtos Entertainment Group also owns Void Production, a California-based developer for MMO game technologies. "With our focus on delivering and operating core games as premium, live services, we are constantly adapting to our customers' needs," says Online Warmongers' chief operating officer Matt Candler. Candler continues, "Arktos Entertainment Group's dedication and funding has enabled us the opportunity redefine the videogame business model to develop high quality games and to build strong global franchises."
