Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City developer Slant Six has let go of a quarter of its workforce, as part of what it describes as "temporary layoffs" at the studio. A representative for the Vancouver-based company told GameSpot that a total of 26 staffers have been offered either a severance package or a temporary layoff. Those who accept the layoff may be rehired back within the next 13 weeks, although it will become permanent if this isn't the case after the time is up. A statement from the company reads, "Regretfully, we can confirm that there have been some temporary layoffs at our studio. We must stress that these are temporary layoffs, which means we are working very hard on new business prospects so we can reinstate every single person affected." It continues, "As an independent and close-knit studio it is a very difficult but necessary business measure due to the current project cycle demands." 70 staff members remain at the studio, working on two projects -- one self-published title called Strata Scavenger that is due for release early next year, and another unannounced title. This isn't the first time that Slant Six has instigated temporary layoffs. Back in 2010, the SOCOM studio laid off an undisclosed number of employees in a similar fashion.
