Sony Computer Entertainment America announced that Sony PSP camera attachment is debuting in North American markets today, bundled with the Novarama- and SCE Worldwide Studios-developed augmented reality monster-raising game, Invizimals. The camera comes Stateside years after the PSP camera debuted in overseas markets. The peripheral originally launched in Japan as the "Quick Shot" in November 2006, and in May 2007 in PAL territories as the Go!Cam. It is not compatible with the newer PSP Go, but works with PSP-1000, 2000 and 3000 disc-based models. Invizimals released in PAL territories about a year ago, and allows players to search real-life settings through the PSP screen, placing virtual monsters within the environment. Gamers capture the monsters, raise them and battle them. SCEA VP of product marketing Scott Steinberg called the game "a unique portable gaming experience that not only taps the technical capabilities of PSP, but further expands the breadth of PSP's robust software library." Sony is also releasing an Invizimals PSP bundle, which includes a blue PSP, the game, camera, extra memory and the movie Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs. The game and camera bundle sells for $40, while the bundle goes for $200 at U.S. retail.
