Southeast Asia May Be Nearly $1B Market By 2015

The fast-growing Southeast Asian games market is expected to more than double by 2015, according to research. Niko Partners' just-published "2011 Southeast Asian Game Market Regional Report" claims that combined video game revenues from Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam will gross $474 million in 2011. That number is expected to reach nearly $1 billion by 2015, based on sales generated from an estimated 100 million gamers. Breaking it down, Niko Partners says that Vietnam is the largest of the six regions in terms of revenue, while Thailand has the highest average revenue per paid user. Indonesia is also a market to watch, says managing partner Lisa Cosmas Hanson, because of its "fascination with Facebook games." The full report is available, for a fee, here.
