Take-Two has sued Remedy over its new studio logo [UPDATE: Remedy responds]

After chasing and suing modders, Take-Two went one step further. Yeap, as the title implies, Take-Two has sued Remedy Entertainment. The reason you may ask? The use of the letter “R” in its new logo. And no, that’s not an out-of-date April’s Fools joke.

Take-Two claims that there is a likelihood of confusion on the part of the public. According to the company, gamers may mistake Remedy’s studio logo with that one for Rockstar Games.

This is obviously laughable. But hey, this is Take-Two we’re talking about. The company had also tried to sue Hazelight Studios for the name of its game “It Takes Two”. Since that game came out in 2021, we can assume that Take-Two lost that battle.

It will be interesting to see Remedy’s response to this. The company’s new logo was first unveiled in April 2023. So, will they change it to avoid this lawsuit? Or will they fight it?

As said, Take-Two has sued pretty much everyone. In August 2023, the company shut down the AI-powered story mod for GTA 5. In September 2022, it also shut down Grand Theft Auto IV Definitive Edition Mod. And don’t forget the lawsuit that it has filed against the team that reverse-engineered GTA3 & GTA Vice City. Oh, and remember FiveM? In 2015, Take-Two sent private investigators to its creator. Ironically, now that Rockstar has acquired the team behind that project, Take-Two aims to do its best to monetize it. Now that’s funny.

And that is that. Let’s hope that this lawsuit won’t have any impact on Remedy’s upcoming projects.

Remedy has responded, claiming that it has already resolved this situation with Take-Two.
