Japanese mobile games giant DeNA today posted its financial results for the last full fiscal year, with record revenues and profits thanks in part to the worldwide rollout of its Mobage mobile gaming platform. The company launched Mobage in the U.S., Europe and China during 2011, and in South Korea earlier this year, strengthening and expanding its userbase and securing the company a number of key alliances, including a partnership with Walt Disney Japan. As part of its Mobage platform, DeNA's cross-game virtual currency Moba-coin continued to grow, bringing in $640 million in revenue during the last fiscal year. DeNA also noted that its decision to translate key Japanese titles for Western audiences has proved a success, as the localized version of its flagship Japanese title Rage of Bahamut has held the number one spot on Google Play's top-grossing charts in the U.S. on and off, and ranks high in the charts in other Western markets. For the fiscal year ended March 31, 2012, DeNA posted record-high revenue of $1.82 billion, up 29 percent year-over-year, and operating income of $794 million, up 13 percent compared to the previous fiscal year. Looking to the current fiscal year, the company said that it plans to develop a slate of key titles to be released via its Mobage platform, with the hope of expanding Mobage's userbase even further.
